RESEARCH COMPOUND

NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) is an essential cellular coenzyme extensively studied for its role in energy metabolism, mitochondrial function, redox reactions, and cellular signaling pathways.

Cellular Energy Research
Studied for its fundamental role in cellular energy metabolism and biochemical energy-transfer reactions.

Mitochondrial Function
Investigated in research examining mitochondrial activity and cellular bioenergetics.

Redox Reactions
Functions as an important coenzyme in oxidation-reduction reactions involved in cellular metabolism.

Cellular Signaling
Used in laboratory studies exploring NAD+-dependent enzymes, cellular signaling, and metabolic pathways.

What NAD+ is, and why it is not a peptide

NAD+ is a dinucleotide coenzyme, not a peptide. It is the electron carrier that sits at the centre of cellular redox chemistry, cycling between oxidised and reduced forms, and it is also consumed as a substrate by enzymes such as the sirtuins and PARPs.

Being consumed rather than merely recycled is what makes its supply a research question at all. In mammals the salvage pathway accounts for more than 85% of NAD+ synthesis, with nicotinamide as the input — which is why enzymes that divert nicotinamide elsewhere are studied as a way of influencing NAD+ availability.

Handling and reconstitution

Standard lyophilised peptide handling applies. Keep the sealed vial cold and dark until it is used. Reconstitute by running bacteriostatic water slowly down the inside wall of the vial rather than firing it onto the powder cake, and let it dissolve without shaking — swirl gently if it needs help.

The concentration you end up with is set by how much water you add, not by the vial size. Our reconstitution calculator turns vial mass and water volume into a concentration and a syringe reading.

Storage

Sealed and lyophilised: refrigerated, protected from light. In solution: refrigerated, and treat time at room temperature as a cost. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw once reconstituted.

What ships, and what is on the certificate

The vial ships sealed as it was filled. Every compound in the catalogue is tested by an outside laboratory — Vanguard Laboratory in Olympia, Washington — and the certificate is published in full rather than summarised.

The certificate reports chromatographic purity by HPLC with the chromatogram visible, the measured quantity in milligrams, and an endotoxin result by LAL. Measured quantity usually reads slightly above the label, which is normal: fills are targeted high so every vial meets its stated content.

Frequently asked questions

Is NAD+ a peptide?
No. It is a dinucleotide coenzyme. It has no amino-acid sequence and none of the peptide-specific handling concerns apply.
Where does cellular NAD+ come from?
Predominantly the salvage pathway, which accounts for more than 85% of mammalian NAD+ synthesis and uses nicotinamide as its input.
What is the connection to NNMT inhibitors?
NNMT methylates nicotinamide, removing it from the salvage pathway. Inhibiting that enzyme is studied as a way of sparing nicotinamide for NAD+ regeneration.
Does it come with a certificate of analysis?
Yes. Every compound is tested by an independent laboratory and the full certificate, chromatogram included, is published on the site rather than summarised.
Is this a medicine?
No. It is sold for in-vitro laboratory research use only. It is not a drug, supplement or cosmetic, and is not for human or veterinary use.

For research use only. Not for human consumption.
