What Semax is
Semax is a short synthetic peptide built on a fragment of ACTH with a stabilising extension added. The fragment chosen is the part associated with the non-hormonal, nervous-system activity of ACTH rather than the part that drives steroid release — which is the whole design idea.
It is frequently discussed alongside Selank, and the two are often confused. They came out of the same Russian research programme and share an approach — take an endogenous fragment, extend it so peptidases do not immediately destroy it — but they start from entirely different parent molecules and act on different systems.
Handling and reconstitution
Standard lyophilised peptide handling applies. Keep the sealed vial cold and dark until it is used. Reconstitute by running bacteriostatic water slowly down the inside wall of the vial rather than firing it onto the powder cake, and let it dissolve without shaking — swirl gently if it needs help.
